Sham's New Toy

OK, so I’ve got a new toy. Rather, I should specify, I had my computer literate and all-around wonderful Wife show me how to actually USE her scanner. I think I’ve discovered a new tool that will keep me busy rooting through my gaming closet and posting images.

One of the uses of this new tool will be an upcoming post that details Map Development for my upcoming submission to Fight On!. The finished version of which will only be found in the actual publication, but I’ll walk through some of the steps I use when hand-drawing a dungeon map.

So, in order to test the waters, so to speak, I’m scanning the map of SGotC as it is right now, before it’s fleshed out.

Once I have some time I’ll scan some of my ancient hand drawn maps for your viewing pleasure, along with tidbits here and there ala Jeff Rients.

Very nice, I love seeing people's hand drawn maps. This one looks good.

Thanks! I may or may not be leaving this up as I don't want to inappropriately provide too much info in regards to my submission before the FO! issue it might appear in is published.

It's the early stage before keying, before notes, and before any potential shading.

I love hand-drawn maps!

That's a lovely map. I must make sure to use it as a model for my own contribution (level 4), since I want it to mesh as much as possible with your own work.

Beautiful.

That is a great looking map. I especially like the open hole leading down to an under-tunnel and the watarfall. The way the caverns twist around one another in three dimensions is great.

Thanks for the comments. I hope to have the entire Map Development post completed within the next few days. Next up is adding details, doors and minor fixes before I number it and key it.
